1
out by third
two children laughing
kicking at their big red ball
2
eldest daughter
enjoys the woods always
gentle penetrating
3
two moths about
the elephant ear
intricate shadow play
4
eldest son
sent for the youngest
clouds gather on the mountain
5
the crowd cheers
a pop fly caught
the batter slowly returns
6
doe and fawn
the mother drinks
from the lake rings on and on
7
Blue Iris, Blue Iris
Oh, you open
just in time!
8
these fireflies
red leaves and children scatter
all play hide and seek
9
high mountain
at the trail side a tiny valley
its lake enough to cup hands in
10
eldest son standing
with the hoe
looks up at the thunder
11
the leaf
caught up for a moment
falls
12
cold autumn morning
lame pigeon limps along
among skyscrapers
13
youngest daughter in joy
dances with the rain
bathes with white flowers
14
cycling to work
cold dawn wind from the bay
an alarm blares down Howard Street
15
Well, a cigarette,
smashed out in the guacamole:
the morning after
16
sharing Christmas
four kittens amid ribbons and wrap
tea leaves settle
17
horse bristle push broom
he sweeps the puddle out near first
three gulls move off
18
The clay pot
sunlight on the rim around
and around it, an ant
19
in the field
going wild
idle tractor
20
Scarlet Sumac, white stars of Jasmine,
all sprinkled with dew.
21
a single leaf
clearly singing
how can this be heard?
22
green and brown twigs
part of the plum tree
each a shadow of its own
23
Honeysuckle tangles the
broken wagon wheel
snail tracks on the rusted rims
24
trembling at last!
the maple leaf
unfolds its new shadow
25
The sparrow hops about
on the stepping stones
I hem and haw over teas
26
running off
the sparrow escapes
with the huge cherry
27
no longer!
the maple leaf
swirls to fall
28
at the window a guitar
strings curled at the keys
branches and clouds move
