I host Sacred Grounds Virtual Venue Wednesday Nights

As the CafŽ is not currently interested in hosting an evening poetry scene, I am continuing to curate the longest running poetry open mic known, still on Wednesdays, at 7pm, on Zoom. We all read poems, tell jokes, raise a ruckus, come one come all! Be advised there are two shows the 7-ish and 830-ish. The first runs until about 830; the second starts thereafter!

One can use the Facebook page, link above, for information or contact me via the email link, also above.

There are a few venues I attend often enough to list them below. The information for them comes from another effort I am making on behalf of poets and that is The Global Open Mic:

Thursday May 19th Blake MoorÕs event – I feature Zoom 730 PM

Third Thursday of the Month, 7:15pm - 9pm readings nowÉbut we have created a hybrid systemÉ

* I enjoyed reading science fiction growing up, but because of money issues I read what was then the older, and much cheaper, books from the mid 50Õs.

* My first poem was a result of a waking dream that I instantly became intensely interested in keeping a record of.  It was five sheets of binder paper long, was a masterpiece, had everything in it – yet – I revised it about 20 times. What I learned was that although the poem was essentially unchanged the words themselves had all been changed so much that no original text existed.

*I have long been fascinated by stellar displays. The first time I, an urban child, went to the mountains and saw the Milky Way was astounding.

*&Politics and poetry, there are times when I wish they were never confluent.

About Dan Brady, as a poet:

I love writing; itÕs great fun, good for the heart, mind and health. IÕm fascinated by how words fit together, chime, rhyme and flow from one to the next. I write because I cannot be silent; how could one be in this world? IÕve a theory: the right set of words, presented in the right setting is one of the ways civilization evolves. I ever improve my craft and seek such words so, should the opportunity arise, IÕll present that which may transform my life and or the lives of others.

Poetry explores of the formless as it becomes form; it is the art of channeling creation, making sense of what is beyond sense, and a calling as eternal as any answer.

Honored by small press publication and in contests, IÕm in the PoetÕs Eleven Series and S.F. Peace and HopeÕs anthology. IÕve ties with the Bay Area PoetÕs Coalition, the Haiku Poets of Northern California, led workshops, featured at venues in and around San Francisco and support the poetry community
